Last year, on January 1st, 2024, we proudly launched Kistoria. Since then, it has been an incredibly fascinating journey for both our dedicated staff and our amazing users. We have gained valuable experience during this inaugural year and learned how to improve and evolve. But before we delve into all of that, let us address the moment you have all been waiting for: the announcement of the winner of the Kistoria Contest, 2024.
And the winner is...
The very first Kistoria Contest commenced on December 1st, 2024, and concluded on January 10th, 2025. In this exciting competition, participants were encouraged to write an article of their choice, provided the submission adhered to certain criteria. Here is a brief recap of the criteria:

- Originality: Your work must be entirely your own. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and results in immediate disqualification. Let your unique voice and innovative ideas shine!
- Engagement: Articles that captivate the hearts and minds of readers truly stand out. High engagement—measured through likes, shares, and comments—played a significant role in the decision-making process.
- Presentation: The way you present your article is just as important as its content. Utilize visuals to enhance your submission, emphasize key points with bold text, and ensure clarity with proper formatting.
- No AI-Generated Content: While AI tools are undeniably fascinating, this contest celebrates human creativity. Entries containing AI-generated content were not considered.
- Social Media Engagement: Participants were required to follow Kistoria on Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter).
Additionally, submitted articles needed to fall under one of the following categories: How-to, Opinion, Places, or Stories.
We want you to know that we carefully reviewed every submission in this contest. Among the entries were some truly outstanding works, such as The Inachalo River by Faith Fidelis, The Life of an Average Nigerian Christian Girl by Jennifer Ebikeme, and A Divided Heart by Victor Akpoviano. We deeply appreciate the effort and passion displayed by all participants.
Before we reveal the winner of the 50,000-naira cash prize, let us first announce the recipient of the 10,000-naira Philanthropic Award, generously provided by Firstlight Culture. This award was given to a random participant, and through a fair selection process, the award went to Faith Fidelis, the author of The Inachalo River.
And now, the moment we have all been waiting for: the winner of the Kistoria Contest, 2024, is Victor Akpoviano, the author of A Divided Heart!
After extensive deliberation with our team, we unanimously decided to award Victor the 50,000-naira cash prize. His article was exceptionally original, well-written, and of commendable length, showcasing the effort he invested. Moreover, it was highly engaging, as evidenced by its position as the number one trending article as of today, January 20th, 2025. Victor also met the crucial requirement of following our pages on Instagram and X. Congratulations, Victor!
With this announcement, we officially wrap up the Kistoria Contest, 2024. We hope to host more of such initiatives in the future to inspire and strengthen this vibrant community of creatives.
Our Plans for 2025
As we step into 2025, our team of talented developers will focus on enhancing the design and usability of the Kistoria platform. Our primary goal is to maintain a simple, user-friendly design that appeals to all users without causing confusion. However, we have identified specific areas that urgently require upgrades.
We plan to complete these upgrades before the end of the year. Additionally, we aim to introduce new features, which will be announced at the appropriate time. Stay tuned, remain part of our journey, and share in this remarkable growth.
We also want to involve our users in this upgrade process. If you have feedback or suggestions to help us improve, please use the Feedback page to let us know. Your input is invaluable to us, especially during this transformative period.
Thank you very much for your support. We love and appreciate you!
